Description

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is proposing a new information collection request (ICR) to gather data about the use of U.S. West Coast port infrastructure and the impact of offshore energy activities, including decommissioning of oil and gas platforms, on port-based industries such as commercial and recreational fishing. The collected data will be synthesized into a final report and port profiles to inform BOEM's planning and decision-making, aiming to avoid, minimize, or offset potential conflicts and enhance synergies among port-based industries. The survey includes approximately 30 questions covering port infrastructure availability, facility use, economic and cultural benefits, concerns about offshore energy impacts, and the importance of port infrastructure to local Tribes. Respondents may complete the survey online, in print, or via onsite interviews for clarification purposes.
