Description

The University of Michigan has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified ancestral remains of one individual with a cultural affiliation to multiple Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations. The remains were removed from the W. Side of Flat River site in Kent County, Michigan, and date to the Historic period. Repatriation of the remains may occur on or after July 6, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Michigan's NAGPRA Office.
