Notice of Inventory Completion for Native American Funerary Objects at Sonoma State University

This notice concerns the completion of an inventory of Native American funerary objects at Sonoma State University, in compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). - Government buyer: - Sonoma State University, in coordination with the Department of the Interior and National Park Service - No OEMs or commercial vendors are involved; this is not a procurement or contract opportunity - Products/services: - 35 associated funerary objects, including: - Modified shell, abalone, obsidian, groundstone tools, faunal bone, modified glass scrapers, and a historic button - Objects were removed from archaeological sites in Lake County, California, and held by the university since 1976 - Unique requirements: - Notice establishes cultural affiliation with the Cachil DeHe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community of the Colusa Rancheria, the Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation of the Cortina Rancheria, and the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation - Provides instructions for Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants to request repatriation - This is a compliance action under federal law, not a solicitation for goods or services

Description

Sonoma State University has completed an inventory of associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified 35 associated funerary objects with cultural affiliation to Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. These objects were removed from various sites in Lake County, California, and have been held by the university since 1976. The notice details the types of objects and the affiliated tribes, and provides instructions for submitting repatriation requests. Repatriation may occur on or after July 6, 2026.
