This notice concerns the intended disposition of human remains and funerary objects by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Basin Region. - Government Buyer: - U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Basin Region (Salt Lake City, UT) - Purpose: - Notice of intended disposition of human remains and 11 associated funerary objects discovered near Navajo Reservoir (Colorado and New Mexico) - Action taken in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - Details of Remains and Objects: - Human remains representing at least seven individuals - 11 associated funerary objects, including lots of ceramics, lithics, faunal materials, and shell - Disposition Recipients: - Lineal descendants, Indian Tribes, or Native Hawaiian organizations with priority for disposition - Tribes and organizations named include: Hopi Tribe, Jicarilla Apache Nation, Navajo Nation, various Pueblos of New Mexico, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah & Ouray Reservation, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, and the Zuni Tribe - Notable Requirements: - No products or services are being procured - This is a statutory notice of intended repatriation and disposition under federal law (NAGPRA) - Claims must be made before a specified deadline; otherwise, remains and objects become unclaimed

Description

The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Basin Region intends to carry out the disposition of human remains and associated funerary objects removed from Federal or Tribal lands. This disposition is in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The remains and objects will be returned to lineal descendants, Indian Tribes, or Native Hawaiian organizations with priority for disposition. Disposition may occur on or after July 6, 2026, and if no claim is received by June 4, 2027, the remains and objects will become unclaimed.
