This notice announces the Department of Veterans Affairs' intent to award a sole source contract to Rees Scientific for expanding the temperature equipment monitoring system at the VA Long Beach Community Living Center (CLC). - Sole source procurement to Rees Scientific for proprietary Z3 Zigbee Universal wireless transmitters and related components - Products include: - 4 Z3-NET-POE Power over Ethernet devices - 20 Z3-U2-00-ST-U Zigbee wireless transmitters - 14 TPT2 (Type 2) temperature probes - 20 TPT3 (Type 3) temperature probes - 20 Z3-TRANS power transformers (110V input, 6V DC output, 300mA) - 34 TEMP-BLOCK assemblies (temperature blocks) - Services required: - Installation, configuration, testing, and validation of all equipment and sensors - The system is required for regulatory compliance and integration with the existing Rees Scientific monitoring infrastructure - Delivery and installation to occur during standard business hours at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System - The procurement is justified as only Rees Scientific can provide the required proprietary transmitters and system compatibility - Interested vendors may submit capability statements for consideration, but the intent is a sole source award - NAICS code: 334519; PSC: 6640 - Solicitation number: 36C24W26Q0184; response deadline: June 5, 2026

Description

This is a Notice of Intent published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 8.405-6 requiring the dissemination of information regarding proposed contract actions. This Notice of Intent is for a proposed award of a sole source, firm-fixed price contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) Contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price contract to Rees Scientific, 1007 Whitehead Road Ext, Trenton, NJ 08638 for the VA Long Beach Healthcare System. Only One Source can provide The Z3 Zigbee Universal wireless transmitter for the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 334519 and the service code is 6640. While this synopsis does not constitute a solicitation, interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to satisfy the requirement. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. However, vendors that believe they can provide the capabilities required to fully meet the Government's requirement may submit information in writing to Vinicky.ervin@va.gov by 6:00 AM Central Time 05 Jun 2026. Such documentation will be reviewed solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct the procurement on a competitive basis. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice is to assist the RPO-W Activations in determining SOURCES ONLY. This announcement is not a request for proposals or quotations. The Government is not committed to awarding a contract pursuant to this announcement. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation or submission of information in response to this announcement. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to Announcement 36C24W26Q0184 Notice of Intent. If after 05 Jun 2026 and no viable responses have been received in response to this announcement, Department of Veterans Affairs shall negotiate solely with Ree Scientific. This Notice of Intent to award a sole source contract is not a request for competitive quotes. There will be no solicitation available for competitive quotes. Phone calls will not be accepted.
