Description
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is adopting a final rule to remove the obsolete Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 205(a), which applies to glazing equipment manufactured before September 1, 2006, and glazing materials used in vehicles manufactured before November 1, 2006. This action follows a notice of proposed rulemaking published on May 30, 2025, which received no comments. The final rule deletes obsolete regulatory text and does not affect the applicability of existing prohibitions against making inoperative any part of a device or element of design installed pursuant to an FMVSS applicable on the date of manufacture. The effective date of this final rule is July 6, 2026.
