Description

The Commander Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) Procurement Group, Patuxent River, MD 20670 hereby gives notice of their intent to award a purchase order to Illinois Tool Works INC, 825 University AVE, Norwood, Massachusetts, 02062-2643 (CAGE: 80160) on a sole source basis in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.102(a), only one source reasonably available and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

The Fleet Support Team (FST) Materials Engineering Division located at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE), Naval Air Station (NAS), Jacksonville, FL, utilizes an Instron 68FM-300 Tensile Tester to conduct essential mechanical property testing for naval aircraft materials. This equipment is vital to ensuring structural integrity, safety, and overall fleet readiness. This requirement seeks the procurement of proprietary, OEM accessories from Instron to maintain and expand the system’s operational capabilities. The required components are for pre-existing, proprietary Instron testing system. Using non-genuine parts would compromise the system’s integrity, leading to inaccurate data, safety hazards for operators, and potential damage to the Government’s multi million-dollar equipment. These parts are not supported in the Federal Supply System but are only available through Illinois Tool Works INC.

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which, if received within five (5) calendar days after the date of the publication of this synopsis, will be considered. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses received as a result of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
