Iowa State University is seeking a qualified contractor to perform asbestos abatement services for the Vet Med Power Plant Roof Replacement project and the Memorial Union Pride Lounge on its Ames, Iowa campus. - Government Buyer: - Iowa State University (ISU), including Environmental Health and Safety and Procurement Services offices - Scope of Work: - Removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) from the Vet Med Power Plant roof and Memorial Union Pride Lounge - Daily removal of approximately 500 sq ft of roofing and asbestos materials - Supply of all labor, materials, equipment, services, and insurance for safe and legal abatement - Provision of closed-top dumpsters for asbestos waste and open-top dumpsters for non-asbestos debris - Legal transport and disposal of asbestos waste at Boone County Landfill and Metro East Landfill - Restoration of any damaged surfaces and daily site cleanup - Products and Equipment Requested: - HEPA-rated vacuum - 4-mil and 6-mil polyethylene plastic sheeting - Leak-tight polyethylene disposal bags (minimum 6-mil thick) - Respiratory protective equipment (including HEPA cartridges) - Personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, boots, goggles, hard hats, ear plugs - Glovebags for insulation removal - HUDSON sprayer for misting amended water - Encapsulant (palm grade) - Portable showers for worker decontamination - Closed-top and open-top dumpsters - Services Requested: - Asbestos abatement and removal - Health and safety monitoring - Project estimation services - Visual inspection, reporting, and compliance documentation - Notable Requirements: - Contractors must hold a current State of Iowa Asbestos Removal Permit and demonstrate prior experience - Mandatory pre-bid walk-through attendance - Compliance with federal, state, and ISU safety and environmental regulations - Performance and payment bond required for projects over $25,000 - Work hours restricted to Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with all work and waste removal completed daily - One-year guarantee on materials and workmanship after project acceptance - No specific OEMs are named; contractors may propose suitable brands for equipment and materials - All abatement must conform to detailed reporting and inspection requirements

Iowa State University is soliciting quotations to remove asbestos containing materials in conjunction with the Vet Med Power Plant Roof Replacement project. The contractor is responsible for supplying all labor, materials, equipment, services, and insurance necessary for the removal of asbestos containing materials and other job related debris. The work includes providing dumpsters for asbestos and non-asbestos waste, removing roofing and asbestos materials each morning Monday through Friday, and ensuring legal transport and disposal of all project related wastes. The project start date is August 3, 2026, with completion by August 31, 2026, and includes a mandatory pre-bid walk-through on May 26, 2026.
