The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is issuing for public comment draft regulatory guide DG-1477, which is proposed Revision 5 of Regulatory Guide 1.9. This guide provides updated guidance on the application and testing of onsite emergency alternating current (AC) power sources, including emergency diesel generators (EDGs) and combustion turbine generators (CTGs), in production and utilization facilities. The revision incorporates new standards and lessons learned to ensure compliance with NRC regulations. Public comments are requested by July 2, 2026, to inform the final version of the guide.
