This notice from the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) provides a regulatory update regarding civil monetary penalties for 2026: - The FMC will not increase civil monetary penalty amounts for the 2026 calendar year - Penalty levels will remain at 2025 amounts - Decision is based on Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance - No cost-of-living adjustment for 2026 - No products, services, or vendors are being procured - No part numbers, quantities, or unique procurement requirements are included - The only entity mentioned is the Federal Maritime Commission as the issuing agency

Description

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) will not increase civil monetary penalty amounts for the 2026 calendar year. The FMC is required by statute to annually adjust maximum civil penalty amounts for inflation. However, following guidance from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the FMC will continue to use the 2025 civil monetary penalty levels due to the absence of a cost-of-living adjustment for 2026. This final rule is effective June 2, 2026, and is not considered significant under Executive Order 12866.
