The City of Hemet is seeking bids for the federally funded Accessible Sidewalk/ADA Project (CIP 2411) to improve pedestrian accessibility along Acacia Avenue and Ramona Street. - Government Buyer: - City of Hemet Public Works Department, Engineering Division - Project Scope: - Construction of new ADA-compliant sidewalks, curb ramps, and Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) driveway approaches - Demolition, removal, and replacement of existing sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveways, and spandrels - Installation of detectable warning surfaces on curb ramps and grinding of existing sidewalks for ADA compliance - Construction of curb outlets, decomposed granite installation, and drainage improvements - Vegetation removal, sign relocation, and replacement of disturbed striping and markings - Products/Services Requested: - Mobilization/demobilization, traffic and pedestrian control, water quality control, and project signage - 9,400 SF of new 4" PCC sidewalk, 3,600 SF of driveway, 140 curb ramps, 30 LF of Type A curb and gutter, 140 LF of Type B curb and gutter, 50 LF of Type D curb, 600 SF of spandrel, 2,800 SF of pavement joint transitions, 7 detectable warning surfaces, 3 curb outlets, 360 SF of decomposed granite, 9,800 SF of sidewalk removal, 750 SF of AC pavement over base, and 9,400 SF of sidewalk grinding - Notable Requirements: - Compliance with ADA, City of Hemet standards, and federal labor standards (Davis-Bacon, Section 3, Buy America) - Prevailing wage requirements and performance/payment bonds - Valid California Class A Contractor’s License or specialty license required - 40 working day duration with liquidated damages for delays - 1-year general warranty, with extended warranties for specific items - No specific OEMs or proprietary products are named; all work is to be performed to City and ADA standards.

Description

This solicitation is for the construction of ADA accessible sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, and PCC driveway approaches in areas lacking these facilities or where existing ones do not meet current ADA standards. The contractor is responsible for investigating each location to determine the necessary work to ensure compliance with ADA and other relevant codes. The scope includes grading, compacting, removal, disposal, and relocation of existing items such as street signs, traffic signs, trees, concrete, and asphalt. The project duration is 40 working days with liquidated damages of $2,000 per calendar day. Bidders must have a current State of California Class A Contractor's License or equivalent specialty licenses.
