The University of Minnesota is seeking qualified firms to provide design and construction services for the rehabilitation of the east branch utility tunnel system on its Crookston campus. - Government Buyer: - University of Minnesota, Board of Regents, Crookston Campus - Project Scope: - Replacement of in-tunnel electrical service with new aluminum conduit and circuits - Upgrade and reconfiguration of sump pump discharge piping and replacement with 120V plug-in sump pumps - Repair of 85 corroded pipe support racks using new 304L stainless steel feet - Support of domestic water piping using 141 concrete blocks, stainless steel shims, and rubber mats - Re-insulation of steam, condensate, domestic hot water, and return lines (base scope: station 5+00 to 8+00; alternates for additional tunnel sections) - Additional mechanical and electrical modifications: rerouting sump pump lines, capping steam lines, modifying sump pump controllers, adding water sensors, and repairing pipe stanchions - Owner will remove existing insulation prior to contractor work - Products/Materials Requested: - Aluminum conduit and circuits - 120V plug-in sump pumps - 141 concrete blocks, 141 stainless steel shims, 141 rubber mats - 85 304L stainless steel pipe support feet - Pipe insulation (2" thick for steam and condensate lines, 1410 units each) - 12 Apollo 2" ball valves, 50 misc fittings and tees, 10 pipe hangers, 10 water sensors, 4 motor starters to 120V outlets - Services Requested: - Design services (identification of feed panel locations, layout, permitting, construction drawings) - Construction services (installation and replacement of systems as described) - Notable Requirements: - Compliance with Minnesota prevailing wage statutes - Workforce and equal pay verification - Responsible contractor certification - Project budget is $475,000 (lump sum) - Proposals evaluated on qualifications, approach, schedule, cost, and compliance - No specific OEMs or proprietary products are named; the work is primarily construction, mechanical, and electrical contracting - Place of Performance: - University of Minnesota Crookston, 2900 University Ave, Crookston, MN 56716 - Crookston campus utility tunnel system, east branch

Description

The University of Minnesota is requesting proposals for design and construction services to improve the electrical service, ground water management, and thermal utility systems in the east branch of the Crookston campus utility tunnel system. The work includes replacing in-tunnel electrical services powering sump pumps, lighting, and convenience outlets, reconfiguring sump pump discharge piping, repairing pipe support racks, supporting domestic water piping, and reinsulating steam and water piping. The project has a total construction budget of $475,000 and requires substantial completion by October 1, 2026.
