Fabrication and Delivery of PIP-II ORBUMP Magnet Coil Assemblies for Fermilab

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), managed by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC under the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is soliciting proposals for the fabrication and delivery of PIP-II ORBUMP Magnet Coil Assemblies to support the Proton Improvement Plan II (PIP-II) accelerator upgrade. - Government Buyer: - Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), Fermi Forward Discovery Group (FFDG), under the U.S. Department of Energy - Procurement managed by Fermilab's Procurement Department and FFDG - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or commercial manufacturers are named; procurement is open to qualified subcontractors with experience in precision copper assemblies, electromagnets, and vacuum brazing - Products/Services Requested: - 1 prototype ORBUMP (or ORBE) Magnet Coil Assembly - 7 production ORBUMP (or ORBE) Magnet Coil Assemblies - DAP shipping charges for delivery to Fermilab (3 units) - Project-specific quality control plan, material certification documents, factory acceptance test reports, visual and dimensional inspection reports, unique tooling (e.g., brazing fixture), and discrepancy/nonconformance reports - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Fabrication must use OFHC C10200 copper alloy tubing - Subcontractor must provide quality control, material certifications, and acceptance test documentation - Testing includes factory and site acceptance tests for brazed joints, resistance, hydrostatic, and hydraulic flow - Warranty required for 12 months post-delivery - Small business subcontracting plan required if award exceeds $750,000 - Delivery to Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Batavia, IL - Delivery schedule up to 34 weeks after receipt of order, with multiple project milestones and biweekly reporting - Experience in precision copper assemblies, electromagnets, and vacuum brazing is mandatory

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab or FNAL), managed and operated by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (FFDG) under a prime contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking to subcontract for work aligned with its mission objectives.

The Proton Improvement Plan II (PIP-II) project is an essential upgrade to Fermilab’s accelerator complex to enable the world’s most intense high-energy beam of neutrinos for the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment at LBNF and a broad physics program, powering discoveries for many decades to come. In support of this project, FNAL requires the fabrication and delivery of PIP-II-ORBUMP Magnet Coil Assembly, as identified herein.
