Sole Source Award for Orca Basin Deepwater Marine Data Acquisition

This notice announces the Department of the Interior's intent to award a sole-source contract for specialized marine research in the Orca Basin: - The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), via the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), will contract The University of Mississippi for geophysical, geological, and geochemical data acquisition in the Gulf of America Outer Continental Shelf. - Services include: - Deepwater Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) surveys - Seafloor and brine/water column sampling - High-resolution geophysical mapping (multibeam bathymetry, backscatter, sidescan mosaics, subbottom profiling) - Geological sampling and laboratory analyses (XRD, SEM/EDS, ICPMS/OES) - Data processing, metadata development, and final reporting compliant with NOAA and BOEM standards - The work supports BOEM's mineral resource evaluation mission. - The contract is sole source; no competition is anticipated. - The place of performance is the Orca Basin on the Gulf of America Outer Continental Shelf. - The contracting office is located in Sterling, VA.
