NPS Programmatic Clearance for Public Surveys Information Collection Renewal

The National Park Service (NPS), under the Department of the Interior, is seeking public input on the renewal of its programmatic clearance for information collection activities: - Agency: National Park Service (NPS), Department of the Interior - Purpose: Renewal of authority to conduct NPS-sponsored public surveys, interviews, and focus groups - Focused on collecting social science information to inform park management, visitor services, and planning - Requirements: - Collections must support NPS management or planning needs - Topics must be non-controversial - At least 80% of questions in each collection must come from an approved Pool of Known Questions - Park-specific or research-specific questions may be added within approved topic areas - No OEMs, vendors, or procurement of products/services are involved - Participation in surveys is voluntary - Notice is part of compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act

Description

The National Park Service (NPS) is proposing to renew an information collection without change under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. This programmatic clearance covers all NPS social science information collections such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups that provide useful information to park managers about visitor experiences, services, programs, and planning. The process is limited to non-controversial topics that support NPS management or planning needs. Comments on the information collection are invited by July 31, 2026.
