Scope Container shell material is Aluminum. 1.2 Pre-award / Post award requirements: Due to the critical use of this item and its quality history, a pre-award survey and post-award conference may be required for all new manufacturers. For all previous sources, a post-award conference may be recommended. 1.3 When discrepancies exist between these requirements and those on current manufacturer’s drawings, contact code "CONTACT BUYER ON PAGE 1 OF THE CONTRACT" or code N241.10. 1.4 Articles to be furnished shall be manufactured, tested, and inspected according to Container Research Corporation drawing number 05259, Revision latest, and all referenced details and specifications. 1.5 Equipment such as fixtures, jigs, dies, patterns, mylars, special tooling, test equipment, or any other manufacturing aids required for manufacture/testing will not be provided by the government or any other source and is the sole responsibility of the contractor. 1.6 If MIL-STD-454 is referenced, the contractor is expected to show compliance with IPC/EIAJ-STD-001C. 2. Applicable Documents Drawing data: DL 580E001, STD-147, STD-224, STD-225, STD-228, STD-251, 13C057, 13C058, 13C060, 13D056, 15930, 17D043, 17D058, 20D002, 580C007, 580D005, 580D006, 580E001, 580E002, 580E003, 580E004, 580E008. 3. Requirements 3.1 One third (1/3) unit of desiccant (MIL-D-3464, Type II nondusting) per cubic foot of container interior volume shall be placed in the desiccant holder at shipment. 3.2 Seal crevices with Sealing Compound MIL-S-81733 or equivalent where atmospheric liquids may be retained. 3.3 Finish shall be electrodeposited alkaline Zinc-Nickel Alloy per ASTM B 841, Class 1, Type B, Grade 3. 3.4 The shock mount has been tested and approved; no substitution without written permission from Naval Inventory Control Point, Philadelphia. All containers must have a nameplate with a Unique Identification (UID) marking as per drawing 15930 and MIL-STD-130 latest revision. Contact NAVICP for serial number assignment. Welding qualifications must meet AWS standards; proper controls and cleaning procedures are required. 4. Quality Assurance 4.1 First article testing costs are borne by the contractor, estimated at $10,000. 4.2 Container interior steel surfaces shall be painted with two coats of primer as specified, with a minimum total thickness of 1.5 mils. 4.3 The first article tests include dimensional, form, fit, and function tests, and compliance with drawings and specifications. 4.4 Additional tests may be required to demonstrate contract compliance. 4.5 The contractor is responsible for providing parts and repairs during testing. 4.6 Disposition of FAT samples: destroyed during testing unless otherwise specified. 4.7 Test coating instructions: unpainted, with corrosive areas coated with light preservative. 4.8 FAT approval criteria include delivery of one unit within 120 days, marked appropriately, and passing all tests. 4.9 If disapproved, additional testing and modifications are required at the contractor’s expense. 4.10 The contractor shall produce both the first article and the production quantity at the same facility and notify the government of shipments. 4.11 Waivers of First Article approval are possible under certain conditions, with specific certification and documentation required.
