Description
This requirement is for construction services to perform a Design/Build service that includes the installation of fall netting at PG-2 Level 1, and metal fencing at PG-1 north end, Level 2.
Area of work:
The project work area is at PG-1 Level 2 north end, and PG-2 Level 1 at center west end. The construction will take place on government owned land at the Jennifer Moreno VA Medical Center. The Contractor will need to provide a cost proposal based on the Scope of Work.

The scope of work for this project consists of designing, furnishing, installing, and removing the following:
The design shop drawings and construction of a metal suicide prevention wall:
Concrete Anchor Bolts for plate attachments (to match existing plate attachment specifications) Fabrication of new metal wall framing to match existing in form, material and color Attachment of specified metal paneling to framework Installation of ‘angled metal panel stepping prevention elements’ at column tops for climbing prevention Existing chain-link fence pole relocation at NE corner Specifically, Includes:
Demolish approximately 100 linear feet existing metal railing at the north upper level indicated on sheet A-1.1 Demolish approximately 160 linear feet of existing metal guardrail and embedded post anchors at the light well area indicated on sheet A-1.0 Patch concrete walls at areas of guard rail demolition to match existing finish. Install new wedge anchor eye bolts @ 4’ off center indicated on plans Provide 3rd party pull testing for eye bolts installation Install new 177’x10’4” safety netting in light well Fabricate and install new metal railing with 2”x2” galvanized tube steel railing with stainless steel metal corrugated mesh to match existing rail on PG-1 Clean up and demobilize
The installation of suicide prevention fall netting:
Removal of existing metal fencing and repair. Installation of new wedge anchor eye bolts Provide suicide prevention netting per specification Attachment of new safety netting Specifically, Includes:
18 Gauge Stainless Steel T304 2B Perforated 3/8” Dia. on 1/2” Staggered Center panels mounted on 5 prefabricated sections of fencing frames from; 1.25" x 2" x 2" pre-galvanized square tube, 1/2" x 6" x 18" galvanized mounting plates anchored onto concrete to match existing fencing and drawings provided for parking structure. We will use a combination of a 2-man extended boom lift and reach forklift with jib to complete the work. After fencing frame is erected and anchored a welder will complete final points of connection. The corrugated panels will then be installed by being fastened to galvanized frame and supported by stainless steel J-Mold. We understand some of this work may have to be completed after ours and/or on weekends.
The general design will need to include approved heights, materials, colors, and form, which will be provided by the VASD COR Representative. Only two design shop drawings submissions (50 and 100) % are required. Need to post permits in accordance with VASD Safety Office and Infection Control Department. Notify the COR and cc the CO of any activity outside the working hours. A VA representative should always be present. An independent third-party reviewer (PE CA licensed) is mandatory.
