The Government of Alberta's Environment and Protected Areas agency is seeking proposals for the development of an advanced Water Demand Forecasting Model (WDFM) for the South Saskatchewan River Basin (SSRB): - Government Buyer: - Alberta Environment and Protected Areas - Project Scope: - Develop an integrated, watershed-scale WDFM for the SSRB - Use the GoldSim platform as the modeling environment - Incorporate Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques - Model and forecast water demands for municipal, irrigation, stock watering, industrial, and commercial sectors - Support operational planning during droughts and inform long-term water management strategies, including climate change considerations - Key Technology Requirement: - GoldSim platform is specified as the required modeling tool - Contract Details: - Duration is 9 months - Open to competitive bidding under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) - No specific OEMs or vendors are named, but GoldSim is referenced as a required technology
Description
This project aims to develop an integrated watershed-scale Water Demand Forecasting Model (WDFM) for the South Saskatchewan River Basin of Alberta. The model will support water availability efforts by simulating and forecasting water demands across various sectors, aiding operational planning during droughts and informing long-term strategies including climate change impacts. The approach uses a hybrid, modular, and flexible model leveraging multiple techniques including Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence on the GoldSim platform. The contract duration is 9 months starting June 29, 2026.
