DOE Ames Laboratory Solicitation for Concrete Sidewalk Repair Services

Ames Laboratory, managed by Iowa State University for the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking fixed-price proposals for concrete sidewalk repair services at its Ames, Iowa campus. - Government Buyer: - U.S. Department of Energy, Ames National Laboratory (operated by Iowa State University) - Contracting managed by Ames Laboratory Procurement Office - Scope of Work: - Concrete sidewalk repair at two primary locations: - Technical and Administrative Facility (TASF): approximately 2,000 sq ft (base bid) - Metals Development (MD) building: approximately 1,000 sq ft (alternate bid) - Work includes: - Removal and disposal of existing concrete - Subgrade preparation - Placement of 4,000-psi air-entrained, fiber-reinforced concrete - Broom finish, formwork, saw-cut joints, curing, joint sealants, and replacement of salvaged accessories - Compliance with Davis-Bacon wage rates - Services and Compliance Requirements: - Strict adherence to DOE and Ames Laboratory safety, environmental, and health standards - Development and implementation of a Subcontractor Safety Analysis Packet (SSAP) - Compliance with 10 CFR 851 Worker Safety and Health Program - Submission of safety documentation, including Job Safety Analysis, daily inspections, incident reporting, and training records - Management of hazardous waste, emergency response planning, and OSHA compliance audits - Notable Requirements: - No specific OEMs, brands, or part numbers are specified; focus is on service quality and regulatory compliance - Award based on lowest price technically acceptable, considering past performance and safety record - Deliverables include as-builts (AutoCAD 2020 preferred), O&M manuals, and certificate of occupancy or operational infrastructure - Place of Performance: - All work to be performed at Ames Laboratory facilities, primarily at 2408 Pammel Dr, Ames, IA

Ames Laboratory, under a prime contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has a requirement for concrete construction services. With this Request for Proposal (RFP), you are invited to furnish a fixed-price proposal for this requirement. All work is to be performed in accordance with the Appendix B – Contractor Requirements dated April 21, 2026. See attached RFP Package.
