Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a proposed rule on February 20, 2020, to establish a Federal permit program for disposal of coal combustion residuals (CCR). The EPA is reopening the comment period on that proposed rule and requesting comment on several issues in particular. The rule establishes minimum federal requirements for CCR disposal, including permitting requirements for CCR units in nonparticipating states and Indian country. The EPA is seeking comments on permit application deadlines, electronic permitting processes, and other regulatory provisions, with the comment period extended until June 29, 2026.
