The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is seeking public input on information collection requirements for two major transit assistance programs: - 49 U.S.C. 5310 Capital Assistance Program for Elderly Persons and Persons with Disabilities - Provides financial support for capital expenses (e.g., buses, vans) and some operating costs - Aims to improve transportation access for seniors and individuals with disabilities - Section 5311 Nonurbanized Area Formula Program - Offers capital, planning, and operating assistance for rural transportation services - Includes the Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) for training and technical assistance - Provides funding for tribal transit initiatives through the Tribal Transit Program - No specific OEMs, vendors, or product part numbers are identified in this notice - The request is focused on information collection related to these grant programs, not on procurement of specific products or services - Eligible projects typically involve transit vehicles, equipment, and operational support for targeted populations - Comments are solicited from stakeholders to inform future program administration
Description
This notice announces that the Information Collection Requirements (ICRs) for the 49 U.S.C. 5310 Capital Assistance Program for Elderly Persons and Persons with Disabilities and the Section 5311 Nonurbanized Area Formula Program have been forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and comment. The programs provide financial assistance to meet transportation needs of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and rural communities where public transportation is unavailable or insufficient. The Section 5310 program funds capital expenses such as buses and vans and, in some cases, operating costs to improve transportation access. The Section 5311 program provides capital, planning, and operating assistance for transportation services in rural areas, including training and technical assistance through the Rural Transit Assistance Program and funding for federally recognized Indian Tribes through the Tribal Transit Program.
