Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) mission has expanded to encompass a broad range of studies aimed at understanding the structure and function of the human genome and its role in health and disease. NHGRI supports the development of resources and technology that will accelerate genome research and its application to human health. The NIH Intramural Sequencing Center (NISC) is a centralized research facility for performing high-throughput, large-scale DNA sequencing and sequence analysis. NISC supplies state of the art sequencing services to institutes throughout the NIH. The bulk of the sequencing done at NISC is on the Illumina sequencers. These instruments are therefore vital components of our sequencing production pipeline. It is imperative that they be well maintained and operational so that NISC¿s work can be completed in a timely fashion.
