Description
The FAA is issuing a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus SAS Model A330-200 series airplanes, Model A330-200 Freighter series airplanes, Model A330-300 series airplanes, and Model A330-841 and -941 airplanes. This AD addresses a dormant failure of a standby fuel pump that could trap fuel in the aft section of the inner tank, making it unusable. The directive requires repetitive operational checks of the standby fuel pumps, corrective actions, and limits the installation of affected parts under certain conditions to prevent unsafe conditions such as uncommanded in-flight engine shutdown.
