The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announces its decision to renew exemptions for 14 individuals from the hearing requirement in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) for interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. These exemptions allow hard of hearing and deaf individuals to continue operating CMVs in interstate commerce. The exemptions are valid from May 15, 2026, to May 15, 2028, and are subject to specific terms and conditions including reporting crashes and citations.
