The Town of Leesburg is seeking qualified firms to provide environmentally friendly vegetation management services using goats along selected stream channels within the town limits. - Government Buyer: - Town of Leesburg, Department of Public Works - Contact: Kelly Hall, CPPB, VCO, Buyer II - Scope of Work: - Vegetation management using goats across approximately 5.5 acres in four prioritized areas - Each area requires clearing twice per year (spring and fall) - Contractor must provide and transport goats, install electric and barrier fencing with signage, and ensure shelter, water, and security for the herd - Contractor is responsible for animal health certifications, daily herd checks (at least three times per day), and compliance with animal welfare standards - Product/Service Details: - No specific OEMs or commercial vendors are named; the service is specialized and requires experienced goat owners - Four main areas to be cleared: - Area 1: Town Branch from Dry Mill Road to S King Street (approx. 1 acre) - Area 2: Plaza Street rip-rap area downstream of Plaza Street bridge on Tuscarora Creek (approx. 2 acres) - Area 3: Plaza Street hillside vegetation (approx. 1 acre) - Area 4: Town Branch from Church Street to Catoctin Circle (approx. 1.5 acres) - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Contractor must own the goats and have experience in grazing vegetation management - Proof of animal health inspections and adherence to animal welfare and safety standards is mandatory - Contractor must provide all necessary infrastructure (fencing, signage, shelter, water) - Contract Structure: - Initial term of one year, with up to four additional one-year renewal options - Work is performed twice annually in each area
