Description
The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impacts of facility improvements and construction needed to support basing a KC-46A Pegasus Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County, Michigan. The proposed action involves replacing the current fleet of eight KC-135T Stratotanker aircraft with up to eight KC-46 aircraft, with an alternative considered for basing up to 12 KC-46 aircraft. The EIS will analyze various resource areas including airspace, noise, air quality, biological and natural resources, cultural resources, water resources, land use, socioeconomics, hazardous materials, infrastructure, transportation, community services, and aesthetics. Public scoping comments are requested within 30 days of the notice publication, and the final EIS is anticipated in Spring 2027.
