This opportunity is an internal policy update by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), not a procurement action. - The DEA, under the Department of Justice, has revised its regulations to delegate subpoena authority to additional supervisory personnel. - Supervisory Diversion Investigators, Field Intelligence Managers, and Intelligence Group Supervisors are now authorized to sign and issue administrative subpoenas under the Controlled Substances Act. - This authority was previously limited to DEA Special Agent Group Supervisors. - No OEMs, vendors, or commercial products/services are involved. - The rule does not introduce new reporting, recordkeeping, or procurement requirements. - The change is strictly related to agency management and internal delegation of authority.
Description
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is revising the Appendix to Department of Justice regulations to delegate authority to additional DEA personnel, specifically Supervisory Diversion Investigators, Field Intelligence Managers, and Intelligence Group Supervisors, to sign and issue administrative subpoenas. This final rule is effective May 21, 2026, and is intended to align the authority of these positions with that of DEA Special Agent Group Supervisors. The rule is a matter of agency management and does not impose new reporting or recordkeeping requirements.
