The Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command, through the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, is seeking proposals for event venue services to host its annual Apprenticeship Graduation and Awards Ceremonies from 2026 through 2030. - Government Buyer: - Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) - Norfolk Naval Shipyard GF, Portsmouth, VA - Products/Services Requested: - Venue rental for annual Apprenticeship Graduation and Awards Ceremonies (one event per year, 2026-2030) - Each year is a separate line item (total of 5 events) - Key Requirements: - Venue must accommodate 1,200-1,400 attendees with stadium seating - Rooms for reception and volunteer check-in - Stage equipment: podium, microphone, American flag, tables, lighting - Support for a 30-member high school band - Dressing rooms with restrooms and showers - VIP parking and radios for staff - Ticket collection and security, including 6 armed police officers, metal detection, and bomb-sensing K-9 sweep - Technical production support for lighting and sound - No specific OEMs or vendors are named; the opportunity is open to qualified event venues and service providers - Evaluation will consider technical capability, price reasonableness, and venue availability

Description

The Norfolk Naval Shipyard Code 900T (C900T), Production Training Division, requires an event venue, to host their Apprenticeship program graduation ceremony for years 2026-2030. 

NNSY Apprenticeship Program:

The NNSY Apprenticeship program is a planned and progressive, career-related, co-operative education employment program that develops and enhances an apprentice's knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) as it related to their chosen trade.  During the apprenticeship, as part of their normal work schedule/assignment, Apprentices will receive classroom academic instruction provided by an accredited Educational Institution, receive industrial trade-based instruction from Government personnel, and develop, apply and refine their KSAs through On-the-Job Learning (OJL) in scheduled work experience through the trade’s established key processes. Upon completion of the required academic classes, the Apprentice shall possess a Trade Technician Career Studies Certificate in a marine industrial occupation and be prepared to perform at the journeyman worker level. The apprentice will be certified as a journey-level worker by both the Department of Navy and the Department of Labor.
