Description
The Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program aims to increase access to multi-user scientific and engineering instrumentation for research and research training at U.S. institutions of higher education and not-for-profit scientific/engineering research organizations. It supports acquisition of commercially available multi-user research instruments or development of instruments with new capabilities to advance instrumentation and expertise. The program funds instruments that are generally too costly or inappropriate for other NSF programs and enhances research training for future instrument users, designers, and builders. Proposal requests can be up to $4 million, with different tracks based on funding amount and purpose.
