Description
NMFS is prohibiting directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher/processors using hook-and-line (HAL) gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA). This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the A season allowance of the 2026 total allowable catch (TAC) of Pacific cod allocated to catcher/processors using HAL gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the GOA. The closure is effective from May 12, 2026, through September 1, 2026. This regulation is issued by the Department of Commerce and NOAA to manage Pacific cod fishing in the specified area and time period.
