Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center - Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD) Lakehurst, NJ intends to negotiate on a non-competitive basis with The Timken Company (4F549) located in Union, South Carolina for the procurement of five (5) Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) Water Twister (WT) Mod-2 Inboard Spherical Thrust Bearings, P/N 3890AS004918-01 in support for the Aircraft Launch Recover Equipment Program.
The Timken Company is the only approved OEM source for the applications specified for this CSI item and source-controlled drawing. The Timken Corporation is the only vendor with required source data to complete this requirement. This is a vendor item control drawing (VICD). Engineering was unable to find another vendor that produces a bearing that meets all the technical requirements. It’s not a build-to-print drawing, a vendor cannot use that drawing to manufacture the bearing. The Government intends to procure the above under the authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1), FAR 6.302-1.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received within fifteen days after the date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of this notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
