Description
In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Yale Peabody Museum, Yale University, intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of unassociated funerary objects and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribe identified in the notice. The items include stone mortars, pestles, weights, and bowls removed from Southern California in the late 19th century. Repatriation may occur on or after June 11, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be sent to the Interim Director of the Yale Peabody Museum.
