Description

The California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory determined a cultural affiliation between the remains and associated objects and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The notice details the presence of human remains and funerary objects collected from the ancestral homeland of the Chumash people. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after June 11, 2026, to affiliated tribes or organizations.
