Description
The New York State Museum intends to repatriate certain cultural items that are objects of cultural patrimony and have a cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The items include four strings of wampum collected by William Beauchamp between 1878 and 1895, originally belonging to Oneida Chief Abraham Hill. The repatriation may occur on or after June 11, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at the New York State Museum.
