Description
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announces comparability finding determinations for the swimming crab fisheries of Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA). These findings are based on documentary evidence submitted by the governments of these countries and other relevant information. NMFS determined that the swimming crab fisheries in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka are comparable in effectiveness to the U.S. regulatory program, allowing continued importation of their fish and fish products. However, the swimming crab fisheries in the Philippines remain not comparable, and imports from these fisheries will be banned starting June 11, 2026. These findings are valid from May 12, 2026 through December 31, 2029.
