The City of Bakersfield Public Works Department is seeking bids for the installation of a new Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) at Bakersfield Municipal Airport. - Government Buyer: - City of Bakersfield Public Works Department (Public Works Department, Bakersfield Municipal Airport) - OEMs and Vendors: - FAA-approved AWOS manufacturers (specific OEMs not named; typical OEMs include Vaisala, All Weather Inc., and Mesotech International) - Design and engineering support by Mead & Hunt, Inc. - Products/Services Requested: - Complete installation of an FAA-approved AWOS III P system, including: - Central Data Processor, sensors (temperature/humidity, rain gauge, ceilometer, present weather, visibility, wind), UHF/VHF radios, operator terminal, LED obstruction lights, lightning rod, and electrical rack - 30-foot tilting/tip-down tower with foundation and cradle - L867 junction cans with lids, 2” PVC conduit, #6 5KV THWN and #10 5KV wires, #6 counterpoise, 7.5 kVA step-up and step-down transformers, disconnects, distribution panels, grounding systems, and electrical vault installations - Survey monument installation by a Registered Land Surveyor - Site preparation, infield grading, P-209 maintenance pad, chain-link fencing with barbed wire, and gate installation - Clearing, grubbing, excavation, subgrade, embankment, controlled low-strength material (CLSM), and aggregate base course - Mobilization and miscellaneous electrical vault work - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Compliance with FAA standards, Buy American provisions, and federal labor, safety, and environmental regulations - Construction Safety and Phasing Plan (CSPP) and Safety Plan Compliance Document (SPCD) required - Coordination with utility services and airport operations to minimize disruption - Valid Class A and/or C-10 contractor license required - Liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day for delays - DBE participation encouraged - Project funded by FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP No. 3-06-0323-030-2024)

This solicitation is for the installation of a new automated weather observation system at Bakersfield Municipal Airport in Bakersfield, California.
