Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is seeking proposals for a contract to supply fresh, locally grown specialty produce sourced exclusively from Arizona farms. - Government Buyer: - Tucson Unified School District, Food Services Department - Products/Services Requested: - Fresh, locally grown specialty produce (fruits and vegetables) meeting USDA Specialty Crop definitions - Produce must be grown within Arizona and sourced from Arizona farms only - Example items include Asian pears, oranges, strawberries, melons, lettuce, broccoli, spinach, radishes, and tomatoes - Vendors must provide a comprehensive product list and detailed sourcing information (farm name, location, years in business, other crops, harvest/season details) - Unique or Notable Requirements: - All produce must be delivered to the Food Services Central Warehouse in Tucson, AZ - Vendors must submit health department inspection reports, HACCP program statements, food safety and recall program documentation, and insurance certificates - Deliveries must be timely, refrigerated, and made without fuel surcharges or delivery minimums - Produce must be associated with educational activities - Multiple vendors may be awarded contracts to meet diverse needs - No specific OEMs or brand-name vendors are named; suppliers must demonstrate relationships with Arizona farms and the ability to meet all requirements

Description

Tucson Unified School District is seeking to enter into a contract with produce distributor(s) to provide fresh, locally grown, specialty produce. The produce must be grown within the state of Arizona and meet the USDA definition of Specialty Crop. The produce will be associated with an organized educational activity and fulfill nutritional needs of a menu. The vendor(s) will provide smaller deliveries to the Food Services Central Warehouse. The contract is intended to begin July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with a possible extension for one additional year if funding is available.
