This notice provides an update from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding a regulatory action: - The VA has withdrawn a proposed rule that would have changed medical regulations related to health care copayment debt waivers for veterans. - The proposed rule would have allowed the VA to initiate waivers for copayment debts and removed the requirement for veterans to submit VA Form 5655 when requesting such waivers. - The VA determined the rule is no longer necessary due to recent relief measures that addressed certain medical bills for veterans. - No procurement, solicitation, or acquisition of products or services is involved in this notice. - No OEMs, vendors, or specific products/services are mentioned. - The notice is strictly an administrative update and does not impact current or future procurement opportunities.
Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is withdrawing a proposed rule published on December 17, 2024, which aimed to revise medical regulations to allow VA to initiate waivers for debt from health care copayments and to remove the requirement for veterans to submit VA Form 5655 for such waivers. The withdrawal is due to VA determining that the proposed regulation is no longer necessary, following relief provided to veterans from certain medical bills. This action effectively ceases the pursuit of the proposed changes regarding copayment debt waivers.
