Description

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics invites public and industry comments on the continuing need for DOT to require U.S. and foreign air carriers to file traffic and capacity data pursuant to 14 CFR 241.19 and Part 217. These reports measure air transportation activity to, from, and within the United States. The data supports various uses including airport funding distribution, air carrier safety monitoring, acquisitions and mergers analysis, traffic forecasting, airport capacity analysis, airline industry status evaluations, mail rate setting, essential air service reassessment, system planning at airports, review of IATA agreements, foreign air carrier applications, air carrier fitness assessments, and reporting to the International Civil Aviation Organization.
