Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is withdrawing its proposed rule entitled "Definition of Hazardous Waste Applicable to Corrective Action for Releases From Solid Waste Management Units." The proposed rule aimed to amend the regulatory definition of hazardous waste applicable to corrective action to address releases from solid waste management units at hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities permitted under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The EPA concluded that the proposed revisions would complicate rather than facilitate the implementation of corrective actions and has therefore decided to withdraw the proposal. The withdrawal does not affect existing regulations or EPA's longstanding interpretations of its corrective action authorities.
