Description
The Family Unification Program (FUP) enables public housing authorities to partner with public child welfare agencies to provide Housing Choice Voucher assistance to families and youths. Families eligible are those facing imminent placement of a child in out-of-home care due to lack of adequate housing, while youths are individuals aged 18 to 24 who have left or will leave foster care and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Voucher duration varies, with no time limit for families and a 36-month limit for youths, extendable by up to 24 months under specific conditions. The program is funded through grants to public and Indian housing authorities.
