Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) is seeking proposals for monitoring aquatic invasive species (AIS) and fish diseases through environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling at high-priority waterbodies in northern Alberta. The project focuses on early detection and response to invasive mussels such as zebra, quagga, and golden mussels, which threaten water infrastructure and wildlife. The monitoring will be conducted during summer over an 18-month contract period starting June 22, 2026. This initiative supports containment and eradication efforts of AIS in the region.
