The U.S. Trade Representative is initiating the second statutory four-year review of two trade actions taken under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 concerning China's acts, policies, and practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation. These actions, effective July 6, 2018, and August 23, 2018, have been modified through additional duties, product exclusions, and a prior four-year review. The review process notifies domestic industry representatives about the potential termination of these actions and provides opportunities to request their continuation within specific 60-day windows prior to the second anniversary of each action. Requests must be submitted via the USTR website portal, and if continuation requests are received, the USTR will proceed with the next phase of review including public comments.
