The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announces its decision to exempt 37 individuals from the hearing requirement in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce. These exemptions allow hard of hearing and deaf individuals to operate CMVs in interstate commerce. The exemptions are valid from March 4, 2026, to March 4, 2028, and include specific terms and conditions such as reporting crashes and citations, submitting annual driving records, and prohibiting operation of motorcoaches or buses with passengers in interstate commerce.
