Description

The Department of War (DoW) is renewing the U.S. Strategic Command Strategic Advisory Group (USSTRATCOM SAG) as a discretionary Federal advisory committee. The committee provides independent technical advice on strategic policy formulation, nuclear weapon design, national command, control, and communications, and other critical areas related to the Nation's strategic forces. It supports the Secretary of War, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the U.S. Strategic Command in matters of strategic deterrence and modernization of nuclear forces. The committee also includes a subcommittee, the Stockpile Assessment Team, which assesses the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile.
