Description
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) proposes amending Department of Justice regulations to clarify conduct prohibited by federal law commonly referred to as a straw purchase. The proposed rule aims to define and clarify what constitutes unlawful straw purchasing, including exceptions such as bona fide gifts and purchases among spouses. Comments on the proposed rule must be submitted by August 4, 2026. The rule is published in the Federal Register, volume 91, pages 24448 to 24453.
