St. Lucie County is seeking professional engineering services to modify stormwater permits for Lakewood Park to increase discharge capability from the subdivision. The project involves capital improvements to downstream canal culverts, modification or replacement of outfall control structures with operable gates, and potential internal drainage system upgrades. The goal is to increase the allowable discharge from 1 inch to 2.6 inches per acre per day to more than double the capacity of the outfall systems. The downstream canal system is owned by the Ft. Pierce Farms Water Control District and can handle the increased flow.
