Notice of Inventory Completion for Native American Remains at Field Museum, Chicago

This notice concerns the completion of a Native American human remains inventory by the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois, under the oversight of the National Park Service (Department of the Interior): - The Field Museum has completed an inventory of human remains representing at least two individuals of Native American ancestry, affiliated with the Tuscarora Nation - No associated funerary objects are present in this inventory - The notice is issued in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants may request repatriation of these remains - The Field Museum is responsible for determinations and handling repatriation requests - No products, equipment, or services are being procured or awarded as part of this notice

Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Field Museum has completed an inventory of human remains and determined a cultural affiliation between the remains and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The notice involves the repatriation of human remains representing at least two individuals identified with the Tuscarora Nation. Repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the Field Museum's NAGPRA Director.
