Construction of New Airfield Electrical Vault at New Century AirCenter (IXD)

Johnson County Airport Commission is seeking bids for the construction of a new airfield electrical vault at New Century AirCenter (IXD) in Kansas. - Project scope includes: - Removal of the existing electrical vault and construction of a new prefabricated vault building (approx. 30' x 15' x 9') - Installation of a 200KW/250KVA natural gas backup generator and new utility transformer - Upgraded home-run wiring to the vault and control tower, new electric service, and power distribution system - Installation of constant current regulators (7.5 KW, 10 KW, 20 KW, 30 KW), main distribution and power panelboards, and L-854 radio controller - Construction of concrete-encased electrical duct banks (various sizes), directional bore conduits, and handholes for electrical and communication cables - Installation of a 12-strand fiber optic cable for Airport Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS) upgrades and communication between vault and ATCT - New HVAC, lighting, automatic transfer switch, and exhaust/ventilation systems for the vault - Compliance with FAA Part 139 electrical standards and Davis-Bacon wage rates - Coordination with airport operations, utilities, and FAA for safety and minimal operational impact - Submission of a 5% bid bond, performance and payment bonds, and insurance; local preference policies apply - Equipment heights above 25 ft require advance coordination with the airport and FAA - No specific OEMs are named; technical specifications are detailed in the project manual and plan set - All materials, labor, equipment, supervision, and related items are included in the scope - The period of performance is 82 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages of $1,000 per day for late completion - Electronic bid submission via IonWave is required
