Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University (PMAE) intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of sacred objects and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The notice specifies that two sacred objects, leather bags and their contents from the San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico, are to be repatriated. The repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at the Peabody Museum.
